COVID-19 Travel Advice

How is Apollo responding to the changing Novel Coronavirus / COVID-19 situation?

We understand the uncertainty regarding COVID-19 is unsettling and may affect your current or future travel plans. In this challenging time for the global community and the tourism industry, the health and wellbeing of Apollo guests and our team is our highest priority. We would like to reassure everyone that our existing policies and procedures are in line with the guidance provided by the World Health Organisation (WHO) and other government agencies.

Apollo is constantly monitoring travel restrictions and other advice which may impact our guests.

We are excited to be "on the road again" in many of our locations and look forward to helping you have an amazing adventure.  Check out our specials and book now to secure your favourite vehicle type and save!

Keeping up to date

  • In Australia, the Federal and State governments are enforcing restrictions regarding visitors coming into the country and travel across state borders. We recommend that guests check travel advice from the Australian Government  regarding entering Australia or for guests travelling overseas, check the Australian Smart Traveller website before embarking on any journey.

  • The New Zealand government is currently restricting visitors coming into New Zealand and is enforcing COVID-19 Alert Level 3 for the Auckland region (Auckland Council area) until 26 August 2020. The rest of New Zealand is at Alert Level 2.  We recommend that guests check travel advice from the New Zealand government regarding travel in New Zealand, or for guests travelling overseas, check the Safe Travel website before embarking on any journey.

Are Apollo branches in Australia and New Zealand open?

Apollo branches in Australia and New Zealand are open for business, with limited contact pickup and return procedures. The Melbourne branch is only open for essential services bookings.  If the situation changes and a branch you are picking up from or dropping off to is closed, we will be in contact with you directly to discuss your options.

Does Apollo offer limited contact pick-up and drop-off?

To aid with social distancing and reduce contact with our team while COVID-19 is a health concern, Apollo has introduced limited contact vehicle collection processes in Australia and New Zealand. Pre-registration can be completed online, the rental agreement and other documentation can be emailed to guests and our How To videos provide a great overview of how to use your camper.  Be sure to download the ApolloConnect app to access this handy info while on the road. It's downloadable from the App Store and Play Store.

Can I change my existing booking?

If you are due to travel to/from a Country which has imposed a short-term travel ban and/or where you cannot travel to your original Apollo destination we offer the following options:

  1. You may rebook to a future date up to 31 March 2022.  The value of your current booking will be credited for use on the new trip, subject to availability.
If you do not yet know your new travel date at this time, we will hold this credit against your current booking, for when you are able to advise new dates in the coming weeks.
  2. You may rebook in a different Apollo destination (Australia, New Zealand, USA, Canada, Europe, UK & Ireland) for travel up until 31 March 2022.  The value of your current booking will be carried to a new booking (subject to availability and currency conversions).
  3. If you wish to cancel without rebooking, our standard cancellation fees apply. Remember we are happy to hold this amount for you as a credit towards future travel as above.
  4. Change of location - If you are already on the road and want to change the drop-off location, we will waive the change of location fee. However, there is no refund for unused days due to late or early return.

I am thinking of cancelling my upcoming reservation because of COVID-19

We have a number of options as outlined.  If you are thinking about cancelling you should know that normal cancellation fees apply as per our terms and conditions.  An option if you do not wish to lose the cancellation fee, is to amend your travel dates for a future date - your cancellation fee will be held as credit towards your future booking.

What if I am on hire and want to return early?

You are welcome to return your vehicle earlier if you wish. There is no refund for unused days.

What if I am on hire and I can’t return to my booked location due to borders being closed?

You may return to any of our Apollo locations- we will be waiving the change of location fee if you are forced to amend your pick up/drop off locations due to travel bans in place.

What if I made my booking through a travel agent, how do I get help?

Please contact your travel agent directly, as we will need to liaise with them about your booking.
